Introduction
So you have made it, after years of working your way up through all kinds of jobs you have finally reached paperwork nirvanna. Now your entire job is paperwork, everything you do needs paperwork, you see the paperwork, you eat the paperwork, you sleep with the paperwork.

Your main role is managing jobs and permissions and leading service. However with how independent the department usually is you will not need to do anything beyond occasionally check on them to make sure everything is running smoothly.

Challenge
Mechanical difficulty: Low

Roleplay difficulty: High

While the mechanics of the Head of personnel are all very straightfoward, the challenge is the roleplaying aspects. You can grant very dangerous permissions, so you have to be careful when handing them out. Another dangerous thing is granting traitors access to departments that will help them complete their objectives, this does not mean you should not do it but make sure you have paperwork for when they change.

You are immensely powerful as the Head of Personnel, you can get practically whatever you want with nothing but a stamped form. You also have effectively all access, this makes you an enourmous target. You should be very careful about leaving populated areas and be very careful around people.

Tools
You have quite a few tools as the Head of Personnell.

The ID console
This is your primary and most important tool, this lets you change IDs. You can change people's jobs to whatever you have access to (Usually it is more limited then the example, but I was ACO so I had all access)

Make sure that you do not let people in your room while you are doing this.

Access configurator
This allows you to set access for doors. All you need to do to set access is select all the roles that will be able to access it, make sure to put your ID in there. for it to work.

The Ptech/Uniform Printer
The Uniform Printer is a lathe that allows you to print uniforms and carpets. If you have used a lathe before you know how to use this. You can order cotton and durathread in a textiles crate if you ever run out of either.

The Ptech vendor is a place where you can get extra PDAs to replace ones that were lost or stolen.

Getting Illegitamate Signatures
Lets say that you need something signed and whoever you need it from is not cooperating, for example wanting to get a weapons permit.Well let me introduce you to the fine art of faking signatures.

All you need to do is get a dummy ID from the Ptech, change the name on the ID to whoever you need the signature from. place the ID in your PDA (with your real ID placed safely nearby) and sign the paper as you would normally. From there you can get practically whatever you want, no one questions paperwork from the paperwork role.

TheFlutteringFurry: Made a basic overview of the role.

Introduction
So you want to prepare food for the station? Well then chef is the role for you.

Your main job is keeping the station fed, how you do so and what you prepare is entirely up to you.

Challenge
Mechanical difficulty: Low

Roleplay difficulty: Very Low

The chef is not a very demanding role in terms of mechanics or roleplay, it is probably one of the best roles for new players as you will get a chance to be familiar with the controls. While you can do a lot of roleplay as a chef it is not mandatory.

Cooking
This is the meat and potatoes of the job

For a repository of recipes I would reccomend SS14 Cookbook, I do not know if this site is fully accurate to Byrd as I only make burgers. If it is not accurate then you can use the in game guidebook.

Tools
Butcher's Cleaver/Chef's Knife
These knives are used for cutting up things.

The Chef's knicke and Butcher's Cleaver are very dangerous weapons, make sure they do not fall into the wrong hands. For more information see the 'Close Quarters Cooking' section.

Reagent Grinder
The Reagent Grinder allows you to grind or juice a huge variety of things.

Usually you will use this to grind wheat into flour for making dough or grinding cloth into fiber, there are a lot more options then this but those are the two big ones.

The Microwave
This is your most verstile tool

If you need to create multiple multiple recipies at once then you can add the cooking time together, for example you can cook up to 6 buns at once if you put it in the microwave

Mousetraps
The mousetraps are able to kill small creatures when activated, i would reccomend deploying them under your workspace to keep mice from eating your in progress food.

The Cow/Goat
You can alt+click on them with some kind of container to fill it with milk if they are not starving. If they are hungry then you can feed them with wheat from botany.

The Vending Machines
The chefvend contains a large amount of ingredients that you can use to cook all kinds of food.

The dinnerware vendor contains most of your tools and a wide variety of plates and utensils.

If botany is not helping and you need more ingredients then you can order a chefvend restock crate from the service request computer.

The Hot Food Cart
This is a cart that has a large storage that you can fill with food, this is an incredible roleplaying tool as you can go around and talk to the different departments to serve food. I would strongly reccomend using this once you have made a good amount of food so that you can go around and talk to people.

Something to keep in mind
Remember that the crew has a variety of dietary requirements, some need to eat meat, some need to eat cloth, make sure there is some food for everyone.

Close Quarters Cooking
If you are in a kitchen then you gain access to Close Quarters Cooking, an immensely powerful martial art that makes an experienced chef almost unbeatable while they are in the kitchen.

Intents
In order to effectively use close quarters cooking you need to understand the three intents.

Harm: Left click, damages the target.

Shove: Right click, shoves the target away.

Grab: Control+left click, grabs the target.

Combos
The power of Close Quarters Cooking is in its combos, to do a combo perform the attacks listed in order.

Slam
Grab and then harm

knocks a standing target down and deals blunt damage.

Kick
Harm twice

Knocks the target away and deals blunt and stamana damage. If they are out of stamina then it puts them to sleep.

Restrain
Grab twice

Restrains and knocks down the target, dealing stamina damage.

Pressure
Shove then grab

Deals stamina damage and steals whatever the target is holding in their active hand.

Consecutive
Shove, shove then harm

Deals a lot of stamina damage and some blunt damage.

Leg sweep
Harm while you are prone.

This will make you get up instantly while putting the target on the floor.

Pick up the suit selector and use it, it will bring up the hardsuit selector screen. Select the one you want and then click the approve button on the bottom right.
If you dont mind a messy inventory or never take the hardsuit off then it is not an issue.
You have quite a few tools as the Head of Personell.

You are the Research Director, the one in charge of the most explosive department on the station. Settle in and hope that your time getting acquainted with your new office is not interrupted by someone blowing themselves up.

Your main role is of course leading science, you are the one who decides what gets prioritized, unless you are training you will most likely not need to do too much leading as scientists tend to be rather independent. Still it is good to be a steady hand on the metaphorical rudder and an eager ear for interdepartmental communication.
Tools
In your locker, you get a filled tool belt, a multitool, a power drill (on some stations) and an anomaly locator with a small power cell. By now you should know why these are so important, you also get some Research Director exclusive items.

Hand teleporter
This allows you to create portals between any two spots on the station. Activate the teleporter to create the first and then second portals. To remove them activate the teleporter again.

This is probably your most generically useful tool, you will always want it up. Typically you will want to use it to create a shortcut between science and either cargo or medical until you need it for something else, such as moving an anomaly with the gauntlet.

Door remote
This remote has three modes: bolt doors, emergency access and open/close the door. Set it to what you want to do and click on any science door to use it. Nothing more to it.
Intellecard
This card allows you to pick up the Station AI from its core. From there you can take it to centcomm on the escape shuttle or you can use the AI console to repair it if its laws are broken for any reason.

I would reccomend the basic hardsuit as while the modsuit is more protective, it takes the backpack slot meaning you will have to move the contents of your bag to it and back to your bag every time you want to take it on and off. If you dont mind a messy inventory or never take the hardsuit off then it is not an issue. Remeber that a modsuit needs to have the seals activated before it is effective, you can toggle the seals via the right-click menu.

Remeber to put on an oxygen/nitrogen tank if you are going to go into somewhere where you need safe air.

Roundstart
At the start of the round it is best to meet with all of the scientists to establish what everyone is planning to do and if anyone has any plans for the shift, you also want to make sure that any assistants that need training get someone to train them.
You are immensely powerful as the Head of Personell, you can get practically whatever you want with nothing but a stamped form.

TheFlutteringFurry: Created a simple page, I will flush it out in the future.

Introduction
So you have made it, you have survived the countless brushes with death endemic to science and are finally at the top.

Challenge
Mechanical Difficulty: Moderate

Roleplay Difficulty: Moderate

Typically you will want to put it in a place where

Research hardsuit
In your office or bedroom there will be a suit storage locker, in i there will be an air mask, some air tanks and a suit selector. Pick up the suit selector and use it, it will bring up the hardsuit selector screen. Select the one you want and then click the approve button on the bottom right.

After that is established you want to set a portal to medical or cargo and grab the materials (and money) from the vault.
